In Order To Be Safe, Be Ready.
Many areas of the globe are prone to earthquakes . We could be anywhere when an earthquake strikes: at home, at work, at school or even on vacation. Are you prepared to survive and to recover quickly? “Our safety does not rest in the hands of one person or government agency alone. It rests in our very hands as we put them together on the concerted effort of building safer, adaptive and resilient communities.” said by Sec. Voltaire Gazmin.
National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill seeks to strengthen the mechanism for national and regional coordination, as well as the interoperability of key players. It also aims to intensify local communities’ earthquake preparedness and increase the commitment of local government units in building safe communities.
Why is it important to do a Drop, Cover, and Hold On drill? To react quickly you must practice often. You may only have seconds to protect yourself in an earthquake, before strong shaking knocks you down--or drops something on you. Practicing helps you be ready to respond.
However, if you are inside a building, move no more than a few steps, then Drop, Cover and Hold On: DROP to the ground (before the earthquake drops you!),Take COVER by getting under a sturdy desk or table, and HOLD ON to it until the shaking stops.
Hence, Earthquake is one of the dangerous natural disaster in the world because ground shaking during an earthquake is seldom the cause of injury. And most earthquake-related injuries and deaths are caused by collapsing walls and roofs, flying glass and falling objects. It is extremely important for a person to move as little as possible to reach the place of safety he or she has identified because most injuries occur when people try to move more than a short distance during the shaking.
Over all, earthquakes can effect our lives in many ways. Therefore, of all earthquake preparedness measures, earthquake drills are the most important. So we must take a part on it for as to be prepared and ready if an earthquake occurs. However, we can face and overcome harmful disasters if there is humanity in us , if we are united and help each other.

I like that you included the way on how to practice the famous "Drop, Cover, and Hold On," which is one of the ways of surviving during earthquakes. We indeed need to participate in earthquake drills for us to be prepared and avoid injuries. I completely agree with you that we must help one another to overcome these kinds of disasters. Be safe.
