Empowering Women

A woman is entitled to live in dignity and in freedom from want and from fear. Empowering women is  an indispensable tool for advancing development and reducing poverty. Empowered women contribute to the health and productivity of whole families and communities and to improved prospects for the next generation. 


The journey of a woman at any stage of her life can be either extremely beautiful or extremely disastrous, and a great deal of this depends on what kind of men are around her. By this I don’t mean that women are not strong. In fact, women are more courageous and strength-providing creatures than men could ever be. Our Earth has been a male dominated society for centuries. This means men have most of the power. But as they say ‘with great power comes great responsibility’, so the question that has been stamped on the strength and power of men is:  are we taking the responsibility and doing enough to make women feel respected, ensuring that they have a fulfilling life?        From hormonal changes to giving birth to  a child, the life of a woman has a lot of struggles. Perhaps God gave the responsibility to give birth to a child to women because they are more brave and responsible than men would ever be. Yet, they don’t get the respect they so much deserve. I believe that a society where its women do not feel secure and respected is not worth calling a society.


I truly believe that men should initiate campaigns for ensuring that they play their role in the society and make every woman they know feel respected and cared. Everyone should know that if it wasn’t for women, then we all would have never been born. A woman sacrifices a lot of things in her life. Yet, somehow she finds happiness in those things. I hope we, especially men, find happiness in giving women the love and respect they deserve.

It is now the final Quarter. Overall, this school year has been a fantastic learning experience. In our ICT class, I learned a lot throughout the school year. This quarter, we familiarized ourselves with the fundamental ideas of Microsoft FrontPage, such as the many parts of it and the significance of MS FrontPage. We do, however, continue to write and publish  blogs and make comments on them. Challenges and setbacks are a vital part of learning, therefore I had some difficulties in ICT this quarter, but I remained calm and determined to conquer them. As we approach the end of the school year in our ICT class, I am grateful and thankful to our Almighty God for allowing me to complete the last quarter of this school year despite the Covid-19 pandemic. Viva Vigan Binatbatan Festival of the Arts celebrated from the last week of April to the first week of May was originally the Feast of the Natives that began on May 3, 1883, according to the writings of Damaso King, a well-known Vigan historian.  Binatbatan Festival celebrations, which includes a street dancing competition. Binatbatan dancing is connected to Vigan’s abel Iloco craft. The dance depicts how cotton pods are beaten with bamboo sticks to release the cotton fluff called batbat from its seed. This festival was started in 2002 to showcase this traditional weaving craft that is said to predate the arrival of the Spaniards.
