Everyone has a mother, so it isn't surprising that throughout the world there are ways of honoring and celebrating mothers day. Mother's Day is a time to think about the legacies – personal and societal – mothers and grandmothers pass on.

Historically, mothers have had a key role in building and maintaining connections across generations. Even today, they are most often the "kinkeepers" in families and take the lead in passing down family stories, life lessons, and traditions. Honoring this role of mothers is part of the story behind Mother's Day – but not all of it.


In past times ‘mothering’ was considered to be the quality of living wisdom that was shown, lived, nurtured and expressed towards others, it could not be reduced or defined by one’s ‘doing’ nor was it ever limited to the physicality of whether one had children or not, more emphasis was placed on a constant way of being that was shared with all others.

Hence – true Mothering was considered an expression or a way of be-ing, whereby a woman nurtured herself in the way that she lived, and therefore all others in her daily interactions, relationships.

Honouring the women in our lives that have offered wisdom, unconditional love, support, grace, respect, inspiration, beauty, understanding and lessons in life is incredibly important, rewarding and worthwhile for us all – it is an expression of love that need not be limited to what one does but rather what one shares and lives.

Women must remember they are women first before they are mothers – therefore it is never what they do that defines them – it is everything they are in any given moment.

It is now the final Quarter. Overall, this school year has been a fantastic learning experience. In our ICT class, I learned a lot throughout the school year. This quarter, we familiarized ourselves with the fundamental ideas of Microsoft FrontPage, such as the many parts of it and the significance of MS FrontPage. We do, however, continue to write and publish  blogs and make comments on them. Challenges and setbacks are a vital part of learning, therefore I had some difficulties in ICT this quarter, but I remained calm and determined to conquer them. As we approach the end of the school year in our ICT class, I am grateful and thankful to our Almighty God for allowing me to complete the last quarter of this school year despite the Covid-19 pandemic. Viva Vigan Binatbatan Festival of the Arts celebrated from the last week of April to the first week of May was originally the Feast of the Natives that began on May 3, 1883, according to the writings of Damaso King, a well-known Vigan historian.  Binatbatan Festival celebrations, which includes a street dancing competition. Binatbatan dancing is connected to Vigan’s abel Iloco craft. The dance depicts how cotton pods are beaten with bamboo sticks to release the cotton fluff called batbat from its seed. This festival was started in 2002 to showcase this traditional weaving craft that is said to predate the arrival of the Spaniards. This summer festival,  crafted in 1993 to nurture the pride of Bigueños in their unique and and historic city,  it serves as one of the biggest and most colorful cultural attractions in the city of Vigan.
