Viva Vigan Binatbatan Festival

Viva Vigan Binatbatan Festival of the Arts celebrated from the last week of April to the first week of May was originally the Feast of the Natives that began on May 3, 1883, according to the writings of Damaso King, a well-known Vigan historian. 

Binatbatan Festival celebrations, which includes a street dancing competition. Binatbatan dancing is connected to Vigan’s abel Iloco craft. The dance depicts how cotton pods are beaten with bamboo sticks to release the cotton fluff called batbat from its seed. This festival was started in 2002 to showcase this traditional weaving craft that is said to predate the arrival of the Spaniards.

This summer festival,  crafted in 1993 to nurture the pride of Bigueños in their unique and and historic city,  it serves as one of the biggest and most colorful cultural attractions in the city of Vigan.

This year's festival, in 2021, was held in the midst of the current pandemic, and they just repeated the festivities from the previous year. The street dance competition, on the other hand, was held utilizing social media. In which, most likely, the dancers who competed in the competition obeyed the government's health protocols.

The Bigueños were able to celebrate the event despite the pandemic. Indeed, the festival's spirit remained strong.

It is now the final Quarter. Overall, this school year has been a fantastic learning experience. In our ICT class, I learned a lot throughout the school year. This quarter, we familiarized ourselves with the fundamental ideas of Microsoft FrontPage, such as the many parts of it and the significance of MS FrontPage. We do, however, continue to write and publish  blogs and make comments on them. Challenges and setbacks are a vital part of learning, therefore I had some difficulties in ICT this quarter, but I remained calm and determined to conquer them. As we approach the end of the school year in our ICT class, I am grateful and thankful to our Almighty God for allowing me to complete the last quarter of this school year despite the Covid-19 pandemic.
